About Us
We are your calm in the recruitment storm
The tech talent landscape can feel like a storm - fast-moving, unpredictable, and hard to navigate. Roles evolve, skills are scarce, and getting a hire wrong is painful.
Storm Digital Talent was created to be the calm in that storm. We’re a Canterbury-based specialist in senior technology and digital recruitment, working across New Zealand and into Australia. Our focus is simple: help organisations make confident, evidence-based hiring decisions for mission-critical roles.
We genuinely love recruitment - this is our craft. With deep expertise in SFIA, psychometrics and coaching, we go far beyond CVs and polished interviews. We combine accredited skills assessment, behavioural evidence and motivational insights to reveal the whole person behind the CV.
That means when you partner with Storm, you see exactly what a candidate brings: their real capability, how they show up at work, and what drives them over the long term. Instead of ‘best guess’ hiring, you get clarity, alignment, and you’re positioned for your new hire to thrive in the role and in your culture.
Each search we run, every Lightning Profile we deliver, and every onboarding journey we support is grounded in the same belief: after the storm, there should be growth, strength, and renewed momentum. Our job is to help you find the people who make that happen.
Mary-Anne Merriott - Director and Principal
Mary-Anne helps tech and digital leaders design, hire and develop future-ready teams. Her specialty is senior-level, skills-based recruitment grounded in the SFIA framework, evidence-based assessment, and a deeply human approach.
Mary-Anne has supported digital leaders in New Zealand and around the world to build teams that work - for the business and for the humans in it. She believes people deserve to be fulfilled at work, and that when you bring good people together with clarity and care, you get better business outcomes. Her approach gives clients a whole-person view of each candidate - skills, behaviours, and motivations - so they can hire with confidence, not guesswork, in mission-critical roles.
Mary-Anne values verified expertise and transparent evidence in a market where it can be hard to know what’s real. She holds multiple SFIA digital badges, Chartered HR status, professional memberships with leading HR and recruitment bodies, and several tertiary qualifications - and she brings all of that to each assignment.
Outside of work, she can be found hiking or cycling around Canterbury, and investigating the next great freshwater swimming spot.
